How to write a Brief?
The Brief, i.e. the description of the challenge you are asking to accomplish, is one of the key factors in order to receive a great number of world-class creative Solutions. BootB has developed an 8-step Brief Form that allows you to give your Brief an optimal structure and clarity. Read the help hints while you fill in the Brief Form, or download our Brief Manual (you can find the link on “Start a Pitch” page). Don’t forget about the Title :)
What is the “Brand” field on “Start a Pitch” page?
The drop-down list for the “Brand” field will be made of the following elements to choose:
1. your BootB Name
2. a name of your Company or your personal name (if you’ve provided this information in your profile)
3. all Brands’ names that you’ve created in your Profile*
4. anonymous
This tool gives you a possibility to choose which name (and which logo!) will be shown to Creators in the line called “Brand”. This name will lead to your Profile, so don’t miss the opportunity to tell more about your company or yourself in order to give more insight for Creators. If you choose option “Anonymous” there will be no possibility to users to access your profile and to find out who you are. This option gives an opportunity to run a Pitch confidentially.

* Option available only if you’ve been registered as Brand Builder Company and not Individual
How to set up a Deadline?
On the “Start a Pitch” page there is a field called “Deadline”. You should provide here a number of days you’d like your Pitch to be open to receive new Solutions. The Pitch could stay open for minimum 7 and maximum 180 calendar days. The Deadline Date will be counted at the moment BootB receives your transfer by adding the number of days set by you to the current date. The timeframe ends at 23.59 GMT.
How much does it cost to run a Pitch?
BootB is a free marketplace, so there are no price-lists. You should decide on your own how much you’d like to spend on the Project. Input the total sum into the field “Contracted Price” (it is in US Dollars!). 80% of it will be visible to all Creators as the Budget (that will go to the Creator of the best Solution). 20% will stay at BootB as a Fee. The minimum is 1,500 USD (only because of transaction costs). The maximum is... there are no limits! Just remember that this is the most important factor (after the Brief itself) that will influence Creators participation.
What else I will be asked?
There are other three fields to be filled in:
1. Language of the Brief: Please, choose a language of your Brief. It will be showed as “Original Language”.
2. Category: Please, choose one or more categories or sub-categories that best fit your Brief. This will help Creators to find projects they are most experienced in.
3. Language of Solutions: Please, choose one or more languages from the list. Only those languages will be allowed to be used for the Solutions to your Pitch.
What files to attach and how to do it?
Depending on your Brief it could be useful to provide some files to Creators. It could be your logo in high resolution or pictures of your product(s). It could be a template that should be used by Creators to submit their ideas or any other file that you feel could be helpful for Creators.
This is an instruction that would help you to attach file(s) to your Pitch:
1. click on the button "Browse" (right under the last 8th step of the Brief form)
2. browse a file from your computer and click "OK"
3. click on the button "Attach" and wait till the file is uploaded
4. to attach another file restart from the p.1
What are the Additional Services?
BootB has developed some additional services that could be of use to you in order to get better results. For example, you can order the BootB Brief Translation [BBT] service (into up to 12 languages!) in order to access as many Creators as possible. For more information, please, refer to the “Additional Services” page.
How can I get an invoice (Transfer Slip)?
The 3rd page of the “Start a Pitch” process is the “Payment details” page where you can choose the payment method you prefer (Please see also “How can I arrange a payment?” section). You will have all information on your screen. Please, use a “PDF version” link in order to print it or save it on your computer. Don’t forget to click on “Done” in order to switch your Pitch into the “pending” status.
How can I arrange a payment?
At the moment we have three options: Wire Transfer, Credit/Debit Card or PayPal.
The fastest way to send money to BootB escrow account is to pay with a Credit/Debit Card or using your PayPal account. This way your Pitch may be online within 24 hrs. You can make a Wire Transfer, using the Transfer Slip (invoice) you receive when posting your Pitch. Please, also see the ‘Transaction fees’ section.
What is the handling fee?
The handling fee amounting 69 USD is charged in order to cover the bank expenses and any other costs associated to money transfers and it is applicable from the 1st of July 2010 onwards.
How can I give feedback to Creators?
Once your Pitch is open you should use “keep-trash-ban” system in order to give your feedback to the authors of Solutions. Use “keep” button in order to show that this Solution is good and you will keep it for the final selection. Use “trash” button in order to show that this Solution is not accepted, so that its author will have time to create and post a better one. Use the “ban” button if you don’t want to receive Solutions from this Creator any more.
How can I choose a Winner?
Your Pitch is switched to the “waiting” status at the moment of Deadline. Since that moment you have 30 days to choose the best Solution. Once you make your decision just click “My Choice” button under the Solution you’ve chosen. Because of security reasons an e-mail with confirmation request will be sent to your e-mail address. You must confirm your choice using a link in that e-mail (there is also a link to cancel your choice – don’t mix them up!)
What if I can't choose a Winner?
If for any reason you can't choose a Winner, you have 4 possibilities: 1) you can postpone the Deadline; 2) you can postpone the Deadline & increase the Contracted Price; 3) you can postpone the Deadline & fine-tune the Brief; 4) you can postpone the Deadline, increase the Contracted Price & fine-tune the Brief.
After that step, Creators who’ve already published Creative Solutions will be asked to refine them, and other Creators will have the chance to publish their Creative Solutions. The option is available only once per project.
